Recently, when I entered:

sudo pacman -Syu

I got the message:

Pacman is currently in use, please wait

Solution? Delete the lock file, most likely a leftover from an unfinished update…

rm /var/lib/pacman/db.lck

That’s it, just in case you were wondering which file it is…
